Our client is an independent software house from UK.

The Business Challenge

Our client wanted an application that will help parents keep track of the movements of their children. The idea was that the parents should be able to set the geographical boundary of a "safe area" within which they could track their children. If the child were to breach that boundary, then the parent should be alerted immediately. The system was subscription-based. There was a web interface through which customers could make their subscription payments and maintain their accounts.

The Zerone Solution

Zerone Consulting built a mobile phone based application to meet the client’s entire requirements. The application made use of the Location Based Service (LBS) provided by all major UK mobile network providers. The application was integrated with the mobile networks to employ the LBS service. The parent would register their child's mobile phone number along with the geographical limits of the "safe area". The application would poll the mobile phone at periodic intervals to find the geographical location of the phone. If the phone is outside these safe limits at any given time, an SMS would be sent to the parent informing them. The SMS would be sent even if the phone is switched off.

• The subscription-based model generates continuous revenue for our client.
• By making use of the Location Based Service of the network providers, the development cost was reduced.
